Dr. Derick Ohemeng-Mensah is a distinguished academic, adjudicator, and governance specialist with extensive experience spanning legal education, corporate governance, and alternative dispute resolution. He currently lectures at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), where he teaches corporate governance, commercial law, and ADR with an emphasis on practical, industry-aligned scholarship.
Derick also lectured at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) for over a decade. His long-standing contribution to UGBS shaped thousands of students and strengthened academic discourse in governance, organisational behaviour, and decision-making frameworks. His reputation as a rigorous thinker and impactful educator remains widely recognised.
Derick’s academic foundation began at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), after which he advanced his legal studies in the United Kingdom. He earned both his LL.B and LL.M from the University of Westminster, London—an intellectual training ground that refined his legal reasoning, research competence, and global orientation. His academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. specialising in governance systems, institutional accountability, and organisational ethics.
In professional practice, Derick is a Chartered Mediator and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb). He has served as an adjudicator on several panels, providing expert resolution in complex commercial and corporate disputes while upholding fairness, procedural integrity, and strong analytical judgment.
As the Lead Academic Consultant at AspiraLaw Academic Consult, he directs curriculum strategy, capacity-building initiatives, and research-driven programmes aimed at elevating legal literacy and professional competence across Ghana.
